Introducing the Halter
Introducing the halter should be a stress free process that happens once the foal is able to be touched around the face and has learnt to yield off hand and neck pressure. If the foal isn't confident being touched, you need to go back to gently scratching them over the top of their rump or crest until they are able to find relaxation and thoughtfulness in your presence. For really wild or skittish foals, this 'gentling' process might happen over several short sessions and should not be rushed.
