Crest Release Position

Crest Release Position

When jumping, correct position is very important to ensure the horse is able to use its body correctly without being unbalanced or caught in the mouth. Ideally your leg position should remain the same as during flatwork and your hands should sweep half way up the neck and press into the top of the crest. It can be helpful to hold onto the mane when mastering this skill to avoid catching your horse in the mouth by accident.
